This week saw the culmination of efforts over several months to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Surrounded by various dignitaries, President Biden signed the bill into law on Monday. The immediate question on everyone’s mind was, “when and where can I get the money?” The reality is that patience is needed now more than ever as the processes are just now being created, restarted or at least fully funded.

Major funding has been spread over four federal agencies, and at least 15 separate program offices, more of which are in the process of being created. Adding to the level of complexity is the fact that the majority of the funding now flows through states and tribal processes. The good news is that there are public servants that know how to work things like this out and have done it before i.e. the late ‘00s financial crisis.
