There were a lot of reasons that we explored converting to LED streetlights, but through various pilots that we placed throughout the city we found a significant drop in major crime in one central neighborhood. After a year of installation we saw a 57% drop in major crime in that neighborhood. It was truly a safety feature that drove us to push this project to fruition. We’re expanding this to the entirety of the city. Actual completion time will be probably less than a year and a half to complete all 28,000 streetlights.
