Continuous air and surface solutions that helps to inactivate common viruses and bacteria

  • Patent pending technology focused on airborne viruses
  • A patented solution that helps reduce bacteria on surfaces in occupied spaces

CLEVELAND, Sept. 22, 2020 — Leveraging decades of UV and LED experience GE Current, a Daintree company, announces its latest patent pending technology that targets the inactivation of airborne viruses with UVC light that is always on. From the first name in light, this technology is designed as an additional layer of protection to help fight aerosolized viruses around the clock.

“Our 365DisInFx™ UVA and UVC solutions can be used in high traffic environments to help provide cleaner spaces by inactivating common bacteria and viruses on surfaces and in the air,” says Manish Bhandari, CEO, Current. “Years of research in responsible usage of the ultraviolet spectrum has allowed us to develop a growing suite of disinfection solutions. As a trusted source for innovation, we’re counted on to adapt to emerging needs and are ready to make these solutions available for use in public spaces as part of a multi-layer disinfection strategy.”

Disinfection lighting for occupied spaces

365DisInFx™ UVA technology leverages a business’ existing lighting infrastructure to deliver germicidal ultraviolet (UVA) light in places where people are present.1 Current’s patented technology helps reduce common pathogens on surfaces.2

365DisInFx™ UVC technology is different

“Light can be a powerful ally in improving air quality by helping to inactivate airborne pathogens,” says Tom Boyle, Chief Technology Officer, Current. “Specifically, LED is a solid-state lighting source allowing the spectral output to be engineered to enable features not feasible with legacy technologies. LEDs also excel at delivering light where it is needed and allow maximum flexibility when designing fixtures. UV-LED solutions change the paradigm of traditional disinfection lighting by making these benefits more accessible to more customers.”

Disinfection lighting traditionally used mercury and excimer lamps that emit high-intensity light or offer limited design flexibility. Some of these technologies can be harmful for human exposure and to the environment. 365DisInFx™ UVC technology leverages an innovative UVC-LED solution that can be easily configured for a broader range of occupied spaces and applications.3

Designed with ease of deployment in mind, Current’s patent pending viricidal LED light is set to launch later this year in a small 5” diameter form factor similar to a smoke detector. Compact and unobtrusive, the new LED product delivers continuous low-dose UVC and can be installed in most ceiling systems with a minimum mounting height of 8.5 feet.

Current is rapidly scaling its continuous disinfection solutions for hospitals, schools, fitness centers, offices, stores, senior living facilities. 365DisInFx™ UVA technology is available in select LED luminaires and the 365DisInFx™ UVC LPU is coming soon.
